Wall Creeper – This is a small passerine bird found throughout the high mountains of the Palearctic from southern Europe to central China. The wallcreeper is 6.1–6.7 inches long, with a weight of 17–19 grams (0.60–0.67 oz). Its plumage is primarily blue-grey, with crimsom wings in flight with tail feathers. Though largely silent, both male and female wallcreepers sing, the females generally only while defending their feeding territories in the winter. Their songs are a very high-pitched, drawn-out whistle with notes that alternately rise and fall.

This species can be quite tame, but is often surprisingly very difficult to see on mountain faces. While it may be confiding in the breeding and non-breeding seasons, and vagrant birds especially are extremely tame, they will still hide when they are aware of being watched, and will hesitate before entering the nest and even take roundabout routes towards the nest during prolonged observations.

Wallcreepers are quite territorial, and pairs vigorously to defend its breeding territory during the summer. During the winter the wallcreeper is solitary, with the males and females defending their individual feeding territories. A wallcreeper is an insectivore, feeding on some terrestrial invertebrates, primarily the insects and spiders, gleaned from rock faces. It also sometimes chases flying insects in short sallies from a rock wall perch. Feeding birds move across a cliff face in short flights and quick hops, in a unique vertical and lateral flight pattern. Although this bird is not found in a tropical region with its extraordinary multicolored plumage especially the "beauty in detail" of the crimsom wings with white spots on the black primary and secondary sections; the array of colors on these birds rivals any bird found in the tropics.
